(Never played it. But in like the London 2012 Olympics, (yes I played that one) he was involved in water sports (I'll bet he hated that. xD) and if you look he was wearing a life jacket, so maybe that's what was going on?)

(In brawl, They have no Life Jacket, I never did any Aquotic stages with Sonic in Brawl)

(Every character in Brawl can swim though, Including Sonic, Though in Melee, you fell off you were dead)
