Attach it to one of your poke that you want to level up and when you finish a battle the current poke that you are fighting and the exp share attached poke also get a share of exp you earned after the match but its good if you want to level 2 pokes at the same time but not much increase can be expected

LOL this question. xD
It works the same way as it does in the games. :P Attach it to a Pokemon and it'll gain exp. even if it's not in battle.
